Upcycled skirts, Jim Morrison

I took some time this weekend to work on some custom orders.  Memorial day was cool and rainy, so, I decided I might as well sew!  I made three up-cycled skirts, a mini wrap for one of my favorites customers, a Jim Morrison skirt for a repeat customer and a straight skirt for a friend who just couldn't throw way those very special t-shirts.  Here they are!

Upcycled Rolling Stones Skirts

I just listed two new Rolling Stones Skirts in my Etsy store.  So, if you are lucky enough to be going to the 2015 Zip Code Tour concert, I may have just what you need wear, to stand out in the crowd!  I only have four items left, but, I'm searching for more tshirts!

Rolling Stones Skirt

I'm super excited!  The Rolling Stones skirt I posted, the other day,  sold on Etsy! There sure is a lot to learn about this site.  I've been reading every night and checking out other pages to see what tags are being used and how descriptions are written.  I've had to change a few things, for sure! If anyone out there has any helpful hints I'd love to hear them!
I'm also looking to connect with other bloggers who are making up-cycled clothing.....:-)

Here are a couple of tunics I listed.

Rolling Stones Tunic

Rolling Stones Upcycled Tunic
I recently had a custom order for two Rolling Stones skirts, for a mother and daughter, who are going to a Stones concert in July!!!  Lucky ladies! So, I thought, maybe I'd make a few Rolling Stones themed items.  I've been working on some tunics the last few weeks and this is what I came up with.
I opened an Etsy shop a couple of weeks ago and I'm super excited!  I've had two orders and one awesome review!!!!

The Upcycled Closet!...My First Post!

Hello!  My name is Paulette!  I'm from Michigan, where winters are long and cold, but, give me plenty of time to sew and create. I love to create unique fashion from gently used clothing.

I started upcycling clothing when my own children were young....a long time ago! That was a necessity, but, now I do it because it's fun!  I started my creative process when my niece asked me to make her a dress, for her daughter, from her school tshirts that she had out grown.  It was a bit of a challenge, but, a great opportunity to try something new....and it turned out great! I'll add a picture of her in the dress.  That's really how it all began.   I've been making  upcycled clothing for about two years, although, I've done garment construction for over 50 years....Yikes!

I sell through local craft shows, fashion shows, word of mouth and Facebook.   https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Upcycled-Closet/912543995429379

I recently opened an Etsy shop as well.

I spend many hours at Good Will stores, garage sales and resale shops. I especially love going to these place when I am visiting other cities.  I recently spent a month at my daughter's house in Alabama.  I bought so much from the GW,  that I had to borrow a big suitcase from her to bring it home!

I will be part of a fashion show this weekend in a quaint, tiny, little town called, Curtis, Michigan.  Last year was the first show and it was fabulous.  It was in the beautiful, Erickson Art Center http://www.ericksoncenter.org/ and is now an annual event/ fundraiser for the Center.  It's a Mother's Day luncheon, complete with a catwalk for the models.  I was amazed the reception of my clothing and my sales!  They are still looking for future designer to be a part of the show....So, if you live in the beautiful, Upper Pennisula of Michigan, or any where for that matter, check them out!

I hope you enjoy my creations.

I would love to hear what you think!
